The first HIPAA-compliant platform providing clinical supervision through secure video conferencing has teamed up with AAMFT to make the path to licensure easier for marriage and family therapists, or for therapists seeking their AAMFT Approved Supervisor credential to get the mentorship hours needed to become approved supervisors.
AUG. 13, 2019 (ATLANTA) — Motivo, the first platform for online clinical supervision, is proud to announce its partnership with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
By partnering with Motivo—a HIPAA-compliant network for connecting therapists to clinical supervisors for live video supervision—AAMFT members seeking licensure can find a supervisor and receive a discount on their first three sessions of supervision.
With the rise of telehealth, many states now allow clinical supervision hours to be obtained online through live video conferencing. That’s why Rachel McCrickard, a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and AAMFT Approved Supervisor, created Motivo as an easier and more efficient path toward licensure.
Motivo is also quickly gaining traction as a go-to resource for LMFTs looking to become AAMFT Approved Supervisors (AAMFT-S) to find a supervisor to gain the hours needed for the AAMFT-S credential.
“As an LMFT and AAMFT-S, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to find quality supervision that’s both convenient and affordable,” McCrickard said. “At Motivo, we believe that things should be different. We believe that supervision is foundational to the continued development of a therapist, which is why we want to give professionals the opportunity to find a quality supervisor, regardless of geographical barriers.”
In a recent case study highlighting how Motivo works for supervision, learn how one pre-licensed therapist is getting the hours needed to earn an LMFT from a supervisor who is providing MFT supervision under AAMFT mentoring while also receiving supervision on Motivo towards her AAMFT-S.
“I love providing supervision for pre- and post-licensure therapists via Motivo,” said Dr. Sheila Addison, AAMFT-S and Secretary of the Queer and Trans Advocacy Network (QTAN) for AAMFT. “I’ve been able to mentor Approved Supervisors in Training from all over the country, which is some of my favorite work. It’s a great way to support other mental health professionals and diversify my practice while sharing what I know from more than 20 years in the field.”
“We’re excited about Motivo’s offering for AAMFT members as one of our newest affinity partners,” said AAMFT’s Chief Executive Officer, Tracy Todd. “The benefits Motivo provides our members to connect with a supervisor or gain the hours needed to become an AAMFT-S advance and support our members regardless of where they are on the professional journey. We look forward to celebrating this new partnership at AAMFT’s Annual Conference in Austin.”
Motivo is honored to be a sponsor of AAMFT’s Annual Conference in Austin on Aug. 29 – Sept. 1. AAMFT members attending the event are encouraged to visit booth #12 to learn more about Motivo. Students and new grads seeking licensure can attend the Emerging Professionals Networking Reception on Aug. 29 from 3 to 3:45 p.m. On Aug. 30, Motivo will host the Approved Supervision Network Reception from noon – 1 p.m.
