Abby Nordquist, LMFT

Being a therapist has always seemed like the most interesting and meaningful work to me. Sitting with people in their pain and being trusted to help in their healing processes is an honor, and the longer I have done this work, the more I have realized how much I have grown in the process.

I supervise, in large part, because my own experiences as a supervisee were so impactful on my personal and professional development. My supervisor found a wonderful balance of both supporting and challenging me. I love to help newer therapists feel both supported and nurtured, as well as challenged to grow and change. I love to watch therapists develop over time and become more confident, grounded, and skilled.

My hope for new therapists is to find the work that excites them and is most meaningful for them, to embrace their struggles and work towards more vulnerability (in supervision and in life), and to learn to integrate their professional and personal selves so that they are authentic in the room.

WORDS I LIVE BY:
Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.” - Brené Brown
