Sarah Kertz, Ph.D.
I chose a career in this field because it allows me to make a contribution at multiple levels. As a professor and someone with a private practice, I have the opportunity to teach, provide supervision, conduct research, and work with therapy clients. I enjoy contributing to the science while also sharing that knowledge with students and supervisees, and applying it in my own clinical work.
I was very lucky to have supportive, challenging, and knowledgeable supervisors during my training. I enjoy being helpful, improving the skill sets and confidence of my trainees, and making sure that clients get the best possible treatment. I really enjoy providing supervision!
I hope new professionals can develop competence, confidence, and ongoing senses of curiosity. Learning never ends—our understanding of ourselves, our clients, and what works is an unfolding process.
