Thommi Lawson, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, ACS
This career chose me. I started out as an accountant and quickly knew I was not doing what I was created to do. I love helping students rediscover their ears and how they can use them to help those in need.
My research centers around professional identity development. I am fascinated to see how one's professional identity evolves and intersects with one's career path. Additionally, I am interested in advancing the identity of the counseling profession as a whole. Supervision is one medium I can use to advocate for my profession to ensure that we stay relevant and recognized amongst the other helping professions.
I hope new professionals embrace all that the profession has to offer. We are not limited to talk therapy. We can make an impact through the development of new theories, techniques, interventions, technology, etc.
